Principal's Welcome

Welcome to the Seaford Primary School Website. In choosing a school for your child, the question at the forefront of most parent’s mind is, “Which school is going to provide the absolute best for my child- academically, socially and emotionally?”

So why would you send your child to Seaford Primary School?

Could it be the fact that it is a small school where all of the children are known by the staff and by each other, which gives a sense of community? Perhaps it’s because our large playgrounds offer space for both passive and active recreational activities. Maybe it’s because class sizes are small, ensuring that each child receives the individual attention they need and deserve. One of the main reasons may be because our academic results compare favourably, and often exceed state wide data, national data and data from schools regarded as similar to ourselves. This gives parents the confidence that their child will achieve to the absolute best of their ability- and of course there is the additional assistance in reading across the school from years 1 to 6 that provides one-on-one support for those students who need that extra bit of help, along with our Speech Therapy Assistance program, (STA) set up and supervised by the school’s speech pathologist.

Other reasons may include the fact that we offer a wide range of specialist programs incorporating Visual and Performing Arts, Library, Phys Ed, ICT and Indonesian. This provides a wide comprehensive educational program that supplements the core literacy and numeracy programs in the classrooms. Additional programs such as Excel Keyboard and Guitar, LEAP, Interschool Sport, Swimming, Camps, Archery, Chess, School Choir and State School Spectacular all add to the value of your child’s education.

Our school programs are supported by a Primary Welfare Officer who has introduced the Breakfast Club which runs from 8.15 daily and the federally funded Sporting Schools  program providing recreational activities twice per week from 3.30 until 4.45. The PWO also works in classroom with the students supporting the development of the school values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty and Acceptance. He is a qualified social worker and counsellor and is a valuable resource to parents and can provide links to outside agencies.

To cater for those parents who need Outside School Hours Care, we have engaged the services of Elysium, an accredited provider that operates on the school site. The before school program commences each day at 7 am and the after school program until 6 pm. Vacation care is also provided during the school holidays and for pupil free days. This service is available permanent basis, part time (i.e one or two days per week) or casual – just on days you require it.

We are constantly looking at ways of improving what we do. We have ensured that each classroom has the latest in Interactive Whiteboards, that all children have ready access to personal computers, iPads, and Notebooks  and the latest in educational software. Each student has their own XO laptop computer which is provided to them free of charge. All school staff members are committed to their own professional development to ensure that they are up to date with the latest in educational trends and knowledge.

The completion of the Early Learning Centre in 2010 and the Senior Learning Centre in 2014 has ensured  state of the art facilities which incorporates flexible learning spaces, withdrawal areas, large open spaces and wireless connectivity for Information and Communications Technology. These facilities have been fitted out with purpose built furniture to complement the education program. We have a well-resourced art room and library as well as a large open area for indoor phys ed, PMP, and whole school assemblies.  The school facilities and grounds are well maintained ensuring a safe environment for all students.

Our welfare program is based around the Leader In Me program  and the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and is supported by Restorative Practices- an approach which helps students understand and appreciate the impact their behaviour has on others, thus promoting proactive social competencies.

Seaford Primary School is fully committed to keeping children safe and has a zero tolerance for child abuse.

Above all, Seaford Primary School is a place where your child will be valued.

……so maybe that’s why!
